Beneficiary In-take Assistant

The Society of St. Yves, the Catholic Center for Human Rights is a Catholic Church related organization operating with the aim to serve the poor and marginalized Palestinians. The Society of St. Yves is seeking to hire a Beneficiary In-take Assistant for its join EU funded project: “People with disabilities (PWDs) in East Jerusalem enjoy improved living conditions”. This project will be implemented in partnership and coordination with the Swedish organization Diakonia.


The successful candidate for this position will be contracted for one year (renewable). He/she will be responsible for filling in and submitting forms to the National Insurance Institute in Jerusalem, interviewing people, assisting in the preparations of the awareness raising session, and will be undertaking the following duties:


  • File intake and beneficiary interviews
  • Responsible for dealing with legal services as directed by the Head of the Beneficiary In-take Department like National Insurance Institute services, disability benefits, etc … The candidate will be requested to do other tasks in accordance to needs
  • Responsible for preparing and compiling documents, fill in forms, interview beneficiaries, and initiating contact and correspondence with governmental departments and bodies, until there is a need for a lawyers’ intervention in the matter


Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience working with beneficiaries
  • The ability to interview beneficiaries and document all beneficiary in-take services provided
  • A good record of working with the public (preferably people with disability)
  • Proven experience in document writing
  • Fluency in Hebrew and in Arabic. English is an advantage
  • Ability and willingness to work in different cultural settings
  • Good communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Experience in a legal firm is an asset
  • A proven record and experience in human rights, legal aid, development and social work is an asset
