Society of St. Yves Staff members detained in Masafer Yatta

On Friday, 06/24/2022, the Israeli occupation forces detained Staff members of the Society of Saint Yves Catholic Center for Human Rights and the accompanying filming crew while carrying out a routine work related to demolition orders in the Masafer Yatta.  They were detained for 4 hours, after which the army seized St. Yves’ SUV car in accordance with a seizure order under the pretext that they entered firing zone 918 in Masafer Yatta without proper permits from the Israeli army.

They all were detained, all phones were confiscated, and they were transported to the city of Beersheba in a military vehicle where, they were dropped in an area opposite the Nahil Krayot camp on the street without any means of transportation to get them back to Jerusalem.

St.Yves  operates permanently in Area C, especially in the southern West Bank, including Masafer Yatta, and provides legal aid and judicial representation, in the courts.

It is worth noting that on May 4, 2022, the Israeli Supreme Court approved the plan to expel the residents of Masafer Yatta in the West Bank, which leaves the Palestinian residents susceptible to being displaced as well as approximately 434 homes, facilities, water wells, and livestock sheds being prone to being demolished.
